Sky unveils interactive Scrabble

Family arguments over the legitimacy of words used in Scrabble, the world鈥檚 most famous word game, could be a thing of the past if Sky digital has its way.

An interactive television version launched on Sky digital will offer players the ability to check the validity of each word used via the official Scrabble dictionary.

The launch is the latest from Sky Gamestar, the TV games portal, already home to a board less Monopoly, Connect 4 and Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

The newest addition follows an exclusive deal signed between BSkB and games giant Mattel.

Sky viewers will have the ability to compete with up to three adversaries or battle their wits against the Scrabble computer.

Adrian Pilkington, head of games at Sky Interactive, said: 鈥淪crabble is the ultimate classic board game enjoyed worldwide.

鈥淚t鈥檚 great to be able to utilise Sky鈥檚 technology to offer viewers the chance to play this popular and stimulating game, conveniently through their television.

鈥淥ur 7.4 million Sky viewers will be the first in the world to experience this interactive TV version.鈥
