Nine Sky channels, including Sky1, Sky2, Sky3, Sky News and Sky Sports News, will return to Virgin Media from 13 November.

The deal runs until June 2011 and will mean Sky1 programming hits such as Lost and 24 will return to the homes of Virgin's "L" TV package subscribers.

Sky and Virgin have also reached agreement over carriage of Virgin Media TV channels, including Living and Bravo, on the Sky platform in a deal that will also run until 2011.

Neil Berkett, the chief executive of Virgin Media, said: "I believe this agreement represents a fair deal and is the right thing for our customers."

Jeremy Darroch, the chief executive of BSkyB, said: "We want our channels to be enjoyed by as many people as possible so we're delighted to secure their return to the Virgin Media platform."
