Skechers names actor Matt Dillon to front global campaign

LONDON - US sports shoe company Skechers has appointed actor Matt Dillon, star of There鈥檚 Something About Mary and Drugstore Cowboy, as its spokesman for a worldwide advertising campaign launching later this year.

Dillon will endorse the Skechers 2001-2002 men鈥檚 footwear collection across the US and in more than 100 other countries and territories where the brand is distributed. The ads will appear in print media, including men鈥檚 magazines and pop culture titles.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Robert Greenberg, chief executive officer and chairman for Skechers, said that Dillon鈥檚 persona and image embodied that of the brand and would take its recognition and identity to a new level.

The line of more than 140 boots, shoes and luxury sneakers is distributed in the US in department stores such as Nordstrom, Macy鈥檚 and Bloomingdale鈥檚. Past advertising campaigns for the line have opted for a more sophisticated approach than for its two other men鈥檚 brands Skechers USA and Skechers Sport.
