Six things you need to know for the 2014 Event Awards

With just over a week to go until the Event Awards, taking place on 2 October at Troxy in London, here's our exclusive first look at the ceremony and a sneak peek at what to expect on the night.

1. 1920s attire

We will be harking back to the Roaring Twenties not only in the glamorous Art Deco surroundings of Troxy but with this year’s Prohibition-era theme. Make sure your gladrags fit the occasion; think sequins, tassels and feathers ladies, and gents – there’s no excuse for you to not make the effort. We’re looking for dapper attire in the form of waistcoats, braces and pocket handkerchiefs. Watch The Great Gatsby beforehand for inspiration.

2. Beat the Brief final

You’re in for a treat. The final of this year’s Beat the Brief corporate entertainment competition, organised by Sternberg Clarke, will be taking place at the awards. The three finalists have been battling it out over the last few months and will be competing on stage for the winning title on the night. Comedian and hip-hop improviser Chris Turner, a cappella and beatboxing group BeatVox and pirate-themed musical comedy act Jollyboat will perform on-stage.

3. Host with the most

We can’t say too much about our dapper host for this year’s awards, but this TV presenter and funny man known best for his days on Channel 4's T4 is sure to keep the night as slick and entertaining as possible.

4. Strike a pose

We know all our guests will be camera-ready for this glitzy affair, but keep an eye out for some unusual camera flashes during the night. We can’t tell you when it’s going to happen, but it’s sure to keep you on your toes.

5. The party doesn’t stop there

The team from London venue Cirque le Soir will be bringing a taste of their theatrics to the Event Awards after-party at Troxy. You will be able to party the night away with a few decadent touches, all of which will be revealed on the night.

6. #SecretEvent

Pssst… look out for our hashtag during the next week and on the night where Team Event will be revealing some of our own secrets. All will be revealed in good time.
