Sir Alan back for second series of BBC Two's The Apprentice

LONDON – Sir Alan Sugar will sack 13 hopeful contestants with the immortal line 'You're Fired' when 'The Apprentice' returns to BBC Two next spring.

The second series of 'The Apprentice' with self-made millionaire Sir Alan Sugar will feature 14 contestants trying to impress the boss, with one of them being fired each week. Series one was a big hit for the BBC last year, bringing in 4m viewers every week.

BBC Two's winter/spring line-up includes an 'Apprentice' spin-off series 'Tim's Story', following last year's winner Tim Campbell as he attempts to make his mark at Sugar's company Amstrad launching an anti-ageing face machine.

Drama also takes centre stage on BBC Two's 2006 schedule with 'The Line of Beauty', adapted by Andrew Davies from Alan Hollinghurst's Booker prize-winning novel, headlining.

'Coup!', written by John Fortune who writes and stars in the Channel 4 political satire show 'Bremner, Bird and Fortune', is the story of the failed coup to overthrow the government of Equatorial Guinea, which was led by former SAS soldier Simon Mann and involved Mark Thatcher.

The film will provide a shocking, and bemusing, insight into the true story of how Mann found himself betrayed, arrested, and confined to an African jail, where he still languishes, following his involvement in the coup that sought to take over the dictatorial oil-rich Equatorial Guinea.

Other dramas include: 'Shoot the Messenger' by 'Babyfather' writer Sharon Foster; 'Soundproof', a single play bringing together deaf and hearing actors; and 'Shiny Shiny Bright New Hole in My Heart', a modern-day tale of temptation, which follows a woman's addiction to shopping.

Roly Keating, BBC Two controller, said: "Strong authorship and individual voices are the backbone of the channel and I'm pleased that we'll be launching the New Year with some really bold drama in the heart of the schedule."

Other highlights include coverage of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and 'The World Cup Story', charting 70 years of the beautiful game with interviews with some of football's great players.
