Singing sensation Joss Stone signs up as new face of Gap

LONDON - Grammy nominated teen soul singing sensation Joss Stone is the latest celebrity to be signed up to star in Gap's ad campaign, following in the footsteps of Madonna, Willie Nelson and Mary J Blige.

The Devon-born star, who made it big in the US long before she hit the UK charts, has revealed she will be following in the footsteps of 'Sex and the City' star Sarah Jessica Parker.

The 17-year-old Stone was nominated for three Grammy awards for her debut album 'Mind, Body & Soul' earlier this year.

It is not known what role Joss will be performing in the ad, which will be created by the San Francisco clothes retailer's agency Laird + Partners, but it is expected that she will be using her vocal talent.

Stone said: "I've just signed so I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet, whether I'll be singing or not, but I'm so thrilled that they've asked me. Considering all the other people who have done the Gap campaigns it's really exciting. I can't quite believe it."

As well as two Grammy nominations and a sell-out US tour on the way, Stone won two Brit Awards earlier this year as well picking up Best British Urban Act & Best Female Artist. She also performed a duet with Robbie Williams.

A spokeswoman for Gap added: "We're interested in working with her. We are in discussions with Joss but it is too early to comment on what will happen."

Stone, whose new single 'Spoiled' is released today, has also just appeared in her first Vogue shoot.

The current Gap ad campaign runs until March 29 and features Sarah Jessica Parker singing Marc Sharmain's rendition of the classic Rogers and Hammerstein song 'Enjoy Being a Girl'.

In her first campaign for Gap, Parker was serenaded by Lenny Kravitz, while the press campaign showed ways people could customise Gap jeans.

In a Christmas campaign, Parker was shown celebrating Christmas with other celebrities, including Lenny Kravitz, Carole King and Missy Elliott.
