In Cowell's spot, which debuts today, Palminteri exploits his tough-guy image to persuade the black-clad record producer to promote the brand. Cowell is confused by the approach, but agrees that Vanilla Coke tastes great.
The ad debuts this evening during 'American Idol', while Missy Elliot's spot will air on April 1.
The ads build on the launch campaign for Vanilla Coke, which showed Palminteri playing a Mafioso-like character who has an interesting approach to product sampling.
Yolanda Ball, Coca-Cola brand manager, said: "Our advertising played a key role in fuelling curiosity about the taste of Vanilla Coke. With these funny new spots, we are remind people what they love about the brand -- its 'smooth and intriguing' flavour."
The ads were created by the Martin Agency, based in Richmond, Virginia, and will be supported by radio and outdoor advertising, as well as a relaunched website.
Cowell is famous in the UK for his high-waisted trousers and inflicting Robson & Jerome's version of 'Unchained Melody' on the public, while in the US he became famous for his sharp critiques of contestants on the reality TV show, as well as having run-ins with fellow judge Paula Abdul.
Cowell was reportedly paid $1m (拢623,445) to do 'American Idol 2', after the massive success of the first series, shown on Fox and ITV2 in the UK.
