The search for a marketer comes as Silverstone looks to position itself as a premium destination brand throughout the UK and beyond.

The new marketing director will report to Silverstone's managing director Richard Phillips and be responsible for developing the brand as it looks to build upon its association with Formula 1.

Last year Silverstone landed a new 17-year deal to host the British Grand Prix from 2010, saving its place on the national sporting calendar.

The circuit, which became the only British contender to host F1 after Donington Park was stripped of its rights, will stage its first F1 race of the new deal on 11 July.

The track is also set to host a number of other sporting events throughout the year, including the British MotoGP and FIM Superbike World Championship.

The new marketing director will be tasked with developing its international reputation as a leisure centre offering experiences, as well as its conference, exhibition and training services.

Silverstone first staged the British Grand Prix in 1948. In recent years the circuit has been on a rolling five-year contract with F1, hampering its long-term development.

The circuit is currently undergoing a major overhaul which will be accompanied by its biggest advertising budget in its history.
