Silburn leaves Leith London after a year and moves to TBWA

TBWA/London has poached Leith London's multi-award-winning creative director, Paul Silburn, after beating Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Bartle Bogle Hegarty in a race for his signature.

TBWA's chairman and creative director, Trevor Beattie, has been pursuing

Silburn since the latter's John West Salmon spot picked up three gold

Lions at the Cannes festival this year.

The appointment will trigger a hunt for a creative partner for Silburn,

who has been handed a free-ranging role across TBWA's account portfolio,

with sign-off on his own work.

"It is often said that you should only hire people who are better than

you," Beattie said. "With Paul, I can go one better. He's the best."

Silburn declined to comment on his decision to leave but Jeremy Pyne,

the managing director of Leith London, denied that its future was

threatened by his departure.

"Money's tight but nothing cataclysmic is about to happen. There's

absolutely no truth in the story that Scotland is about to pull the

plug," he said.
