What was the event? Held at the Brewery on 5 November ‘Through the Looking Glass' was a star-studded fundraising event hosted by Sir Richard Branson and Natalie Imbruglia for Virgin Unite - the not-for-profit entrepreneurial foundation of the Virgin Group. Guests included Sarah Ferguson and Princess Beatrice, Daisy Lowe and Rhys Ifans.
How was the event structured? Guests walked up the red carpet where they were met by life-size playing cards and mad hatter girls who led them through to the champagne reception, held in the entrance hall.
Once inside, they sipped on cocktails served in teacups while being entertained by characters from the Alice in Wonderland book.
At 8pm they were ushered into the Porter Tun, which had been furnished with brightly coloured furniture, stacks of oversized playing cards and a chess board-cum-dancefloor complete with huge chess pieces - all in keeping with the ‘Through the Looking Glass' theme.
As guests took their seats for dinner they were greeted by the evening's compare Johnny Vaughan and Sir Richard Branson, who provided a welcome address before starters were served.
Virgin Unite ambassador Natalie Imbruglia, former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland and young dancers from the Kids Company provided the entertainment for the first part of the evening.
At 10pm the auction, hosted by Bonhams, kicked-off offering once in a lifetime prizes such as an exclusive holiday to Branson's private paradise island Necker and a trip for two to Jamaica hosted by Rita Marley to coincide with Bob Marley's birthday.
After the auction ABBA cover band Bjorn Again got guests out of their seats, before making way for DJ Darren C.
Who was behind the event? Exposure was tasked with the full event production, PR and creative. The Brewery supplied all food and beverages for the event as well as contributing towards staffing.
What were the highlights? Johnny Vaughan's witty remarks and somewhat controversial comments made for an entertaining evening, which was topped off with outstanding performances from Natalie Imrbuglia and Kelly Rowland.
