The move comes one year since the company was founded by Peter Welch and Anna Burns. Showcase has formed a number of new partnerships in recent months with English Heritage and Good Energy, for which the company has worked with Sound and Music to commission a new sound installation for this year’s Hay Festival.
Simons has held positions with Channel 4 and Classic FM, as well as head of policy for BBC Radio Music. She was also project director for BBC's 2012 Cultural Festival coverage and led the development of the pilot phase of The Space, the digital platform for the arts.
Her remit will include working across Showcase's full client roster, advising arts clients on development, revenue creation and strategic implementation.
Simons said: "I am delighted to have been appointed by Showcase. The combination of business and arts clients is an ideal fit for my experience and I look forward to working with a such a diverse group of clients across a range of arts challenges."
Welch, managing director of Showcase, added: "There has never been a more exciting time to be involved with the arts sector, business is starting to see the clear value of associating with the innovation and diversity arts and culture offer and arts organisations increasingly benefit from the support a well-structured, commercial partnership brings."
Showcase also revealed it has raised more than £1m in corporate sponsorship for the arts since its inception.
The company has provided funding and sponsorship consultancy for the Crafts Council, Investec, LycaMobile, RIBA, the BFI and Leighton House Museum.
