UKTV, the joint TV venture between the BBC and Flextech Telewest, has parted company with Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners - which held the pounds 3 million advertising account for a cluster of its channels - and is putting the account up for pitch in the New Year.
UKTV brands held by Delaney Lund included UK Gold, UK Horizons, UK Drama and UK Style. The agency was first appointed to UKTV when it won the account for its flagship channel, UK Horizons, in July last year. The agency had pitch-ed against the incumbent, TBWA/London, and two other agencies.
No-one was available to comment on the review at Delaney Lund or UKTV.
Media buying is unaffected and UK Play stays with Wieden & Kennedy.
BBC Creative Services has been asked to produce an ad campaign for UK Gold after Delaney Lund's departure. Backed by a pounds 1 million spend, it will break on 22 December and will run on ITV and ITV2, as well as UKTV channels.
Monica Middleton, the head of account management, commercial channels at BBC Creative Services, said: 'We are delighted to have been asked to produce a campaign of this scale for multi-channel TV.'
The ads, created, written and art directed by Steve East and produced by Nick Spilsted and Polly Worsely at BBC Creative Services, show classic TV comedy moments. The strapline for the 16 executions is: 'UK Gold. TV you want to see again and again.'
While all 16 ads will run on channels across UKTV, just three executions will be shown on ITV and ITV2.
