Shennan is the first key appointment made by the company’s radio division since it won the multiplex licence.
The move coincides with Channel 4’s promotion of current director of radio, Nathalie Schwarz, to new business and corporate development director across Channel 4.
As well as launching the company’s three new national digital radio stations, E4 Radio, Channel 4 Radio and Pure4, Shennan will work with Schwarz and director of television and content, Kevin Lygo, to develop editorial and commissioning policy.
Schwarz will continue to chair the 4 Digital Group consortium and will retain a strategic involvement with Channel 4 Radio. She will also sit on industry bodies such as the Department of Culture, Media and Sport’s newly formed Digital Radio Working Group.
