Shell "Tell me we're OK" by J Walter Thompson
Akon, the singer and producer whose hits include Lonely and Locked Up, has released a comeback single (with DJ Hardwerk) in conjunction with Shell to promote its new energy initiative.
The new song, Tell Me We’re OK, features footage of Akon on a kinetic energy and solar-powered football pitch in Lagos, Nigeria. The video was initially released on Facebook and has since been posted on Shell’s YouTube channel. It is part of the oil giant’s "#makethefuture" initiative, which encourages entrepreneurs to develop technology that will improve access to energy in countries in Africa and elsewhere. Akon has, separately, been leading his own projects to provide solar power to countries in Africa. A partnership of agencies comprising Edelman, J Walter Thompson, MediaCom and Possible helped on various aspects of the campaign.
