Seven Squared hires Burgess from Emap

Emap Interactive's creative director, Mike Burgess, has been poached by Seven Squared to lead the contract publisher's push into digital and mobile content.

Seven Squared plans to start offering its clients, which include Marks & Spencer, Direct Line and Sainsbury's, a range of digital extensions such as mobile alerts, e-zines, digital magazines, podcasts and videos.

Seven Squared managing director Sean King said that Burgess, who starts on 3 December as its new head of digital, would build a large team to deliver the planned services, as the firm aims to become a leading multi-platform content provider within the next three years.

King said: "This is an obvious next step for us and Mike's appointment is part of our strategy to build a team that can deliver these services and meet the needs of our clients."

Seven Squared is already in discussions with several of its bigger clients to produce integrated video, mobile and digital content using existing homepages.
