The subscription broadcaster shows exclusive football matches from the Barclays and Scottish Premier Leagues and rugby union games from the Magners League. Last week, it signed a deal to secure exclusive live coverage of the mixed-martial arts Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Setanta now hopes to attract sponsors to feature on the service that will scroll across the screen during live sports broadcasts. Separately, it is also seeking a national sponsor for its pub network. Both searches are being handled by Get Me Media.
The broadcaster courted controversy in December when it ran an ad campaign featuring veteran sports presenter Des Lynam and a woman dressed in a revealing elf outfit. In the ad, created by Big Al's Creative Emporium, a man entered Santa's grotto to pick up a Setanta Freeview Subscription Pack. He then stared at Santa's helper's cleavage, and asked for a 'couple of puppies'. The ad drew 23 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority.
