The deal will coincide with Setanta鈥檚 second series covering the Scottish Premier League season, which has attracted over 100,000 subscribers in Scotland.
Roger Hall, managing director for Setanta Sports GB & Ireland, said the increase in subscribers and the growth of out-of-home viewing had given the broadcaster a 鈥渃ritical mass鈥 needed by advertisers, promoting its move to appoint a dedicated sales team.
It is also estimated that coverage of live SPL games on Setanta is also watched by a total of over 500,000 viewers, including fans in pubs and bars.
Media Icon has been charged with developing a long-term advertising strategy for Setanta through partnerships and sponsorship deals.
Mike Gull, Media Icon sales director, said: 鈥淭he SPL is of consuming interest to a huge number of people in Scotland where they are avid viewers at home as well as in pubs and clubs.
鈥淭his is the first time advertisers have had the opportunity to benefit from one of the best media opportunities in Scotland.鈥
Media Icon was formed in 2001 by chairman Peter Howard-Williams, former-boss of Rank Screen Advertising and Pearl & Dean, alongside managing director Paul Bushell, from TV-Am, Cartoon Network and Sky.
