The agency said the announcement reflected its greater strategic direction and bolder ambition.

Zedde joins following a two-and-a-half year stint at JWT. Her career began in Milan, where she held roles at Saatchi & Saatchi and TBWA.

Alex Smith, planning director at Sense, said: "These are exciting times at Sense. We’ve had a great year where we’ve re-aligned the agency, done some exciting work and picked up a number of awards.

"Francesca’s appointment is a bold statement of intent about where we want to go. She brings fantastic experience from top agencies and we’re delighted to welcome her to the team."

Zedde added: "I’m really looking forward to starting this new and exciting role. I believe that to be relevant in people’s lives, brands need to start connecting with them in tangible and authentic ways, developing ideas that go beyond a TV campaign."
