Secret Cinema's Fabien Riggall's creative pick of 2014: Floating Market

Fabien Riggall, founder and creative director of Secret Cinema, says: "‘Take my Lightning but Don’t Steal my Thunder’ – also known as ‘The Floating Market’ in Covent Garden – is the work that inspired me most this year. The incredible sculptor, Alex Chinneck (who also built a ‘melting house’ out of wax and slid a Margate home nearly into the sea), created something of immense wonder in the heart of London. It brings people together and gets strangers to smile at one another as they try to work out the riddle of how the creator achieved it."

Summary This artwork created an imaginary Eastern entrance to the Covent Garden Market Hall, and made it appear to have been torn in half, leaving a section suspended dramatically in mid-air. The installation was in place throughout October.
