LONDON - Senior executives from Channel 4 will tomorrow give evidence to the Scottish Broadcasting Commission as the first ever review of TV in Scotland gets underway.

Scottish TV review kicks off with C4 evidence

A string of high-profile Channel 4 management led by chief executive Andy Duncan, and its director of nations and regions Stuart Cosgrove will meet with Commission members in Glasgow.

Established in August, the Scottish Broadcasting Commission - led by Chairman Blair Jenkins (pictured) - will consider broadcasting’s contribution to Scotland’s economy, its facilitation of cultural expression and its role in the democratic process.

It aims to establish the appropriate volume and nature of programmes and services to be provided for TV audiences in Scotland, whether change is required to the structure and funding of ITV licensees in Scotland, and whether there is a requirement or appetite for a new digital channel devoted to Scottish content.

The Scottish Broadcasting Commission has published its timetable and main areas of inquiry. Interim findings will be published at various points before the final report is presented to ministers next summer.
