Scottish & Newcastle hunts DM shop

Scottish & Newcastle is looking for an agency to handle its £1.5 million direct marketing and sales promotion account.

The brewer, which was acquired jointly by Heineken and Carlsberg in April last year, requires an agency to provide strategic and concept development and tactical execution across experiential, CRM, web design and digital activity.

The review is being handled by Creative Brief.

A brief is to be sent out to shortlisted agencies at the beginning of next month, with a result expected towards the end of April.

There is no incumbent on the consolidated account, but a number of DM agencies work on the company's various brands. These include EHS Brann Cirencester, which works on the Foster's Lager range; Story, which handles Kronenbourg 1664; and Rapp Edinburgh, which is responsible for Strongbow.

Other brands in Scottish & Newcastle's portfolio include John Smith's, Newcastle Brown Ale, Woodpecker and Bulmers. Last month, the brewer also secured the exclusive marketing and distribution rights to the Tiger and Zywiec beer brands.

Last year, Rapp created a CRM initiative for Strongbow, which offered consumers a free pint once every week for a month. The promotion was supported by radio ads, voiced by David Mitchell.
