Scottish Courage has appointed Andy Neal, former More Group
Scotland managing director, to the new position of brands director for
Kronenbourg 1664, Miller, and Beck's.
Neal will take up the job in the New Year, after the creative review of
the Kronenbourg account is expected to be completed. It is understood
that Neal has had a hand in the review, which is down to a shortlist of
TBWA/London, M&C Saatchi and Fallon.
More Group confirmed Neal's resignation last month, following an
internal restructure at its Scottish operation. He had been at the
outdoor advertising giant since 1998, joining from United Distillers
where he had spent 11 years in several marketing positions including a
five-year stint as marketing director.
His appointment is part of a wider rejig within the marketing department
of the UK's biggest brewer. The reshuffle has seen John Botia, formerly
brands director for lagers, become brands director for Fosters and John
Smiths. Maurice Breen, former brands director for premium beers, will
head up a new projects division. The new post of brands director for
niche, local and speciality beers has yet to be filled.
This week Scottish & Newcastle posted interim results with pre-tax
profits up £1.7m to £242.8m on sales down from £2.17bn
to £2.13bn. The group claimed the figures vindicated its decision
to focus on its major beer brands and sell off its Pontin's and Center
Parcs holiday sites and more than 1100 pubs.
