Sports fans and Games workers will be able to pay as little as £10 a night for a pitch at one of the locations being offered by Camping at the Games.
To launch the initiate, Potters Field next to Tower Bridge will be transformed into a pop up urban campsite on Monday (28 May) complete with a campfire, dressed tents, barbecue and a carnival atmosphere.
Rhian Evans, co-founder and director of Camping at the Games said: "We wanted to make taking part in the Olympics affordable for everyone. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in the Olympics. For volunteers who are staying in London for at least two weeks an average priced hotel room in London would cost not far short of £3,000 for this period or just under £1,000 for a family of four for only two nights.
"We have joined forces with local sports clubs close to Olympic and Paralympic venues who can offer their facilities and atmosphere for less than a tenth of the price to provide great value accommodation that in turn will generate valuable revenue to be reinvested into community sport," he added.
