Alongside AMV, Sainsbury's has short listed Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Leo Burnett and JWT.
DDB London, McCann Erickson, TBWA\London and Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners have all been eliminated from the review process, which is being handled by the Haystack Group.
Jamie Oliver's future as a brand spokesman after five years remains uncertain as the ad review continues. His current contract is due to expire in May.
However, Oliver and the advertising is not the root of the supermarket group's problems. Sainsbury's has suffered severe supply chain problems, particularly towards the end of last year, which is adding extra cost to its struggling food business.
In January, it reported like-for-like sales down 0.4% and its equivalent third-quarter sales fell 1.2%.
In December, it replaced its head of IT Maggie Miller just after it was forced to write off 拢260m because of problems with supply chain systems, which left some London stores with empty shelves and apologies instead of food for customers.
The problems were worst at New Year when fresh food in particular could not be found in some Sainsbury's stores in London.
