Sainsbury's Bank selects BoS chief to steer branding

Sainsbury's Bank has appointed senior Bank of Scotland (BoS)

marketer Tom Kerr to the post of director of brands, its new top

marketing role.

Kerr spent six years at BoS, most recently as director of customer

strategy.

He joined Sainsbury's Bank, a joint venture between the supermarket

giant and BoS, last week.

Reporting to Sainsbury's Bank deputy chief executive Derek Bottom, Kerr

will focus more on the bank's customers and developing new and existing

branded products.

Kerr will lead the joint venture's brand department, which was set up

following the departure last November of director of product development

Graeme McCarte. The previous marketing chief, David Noble, left to join

BAA in March last year.

'My role is to develop the packaged groceries approach that has worked

so successfully for Sainsbury's and apply it to selling financial

services,' said Kerr. 'We will focus on our core audience to create a

portfolio of products that meets their needs and deliver through as many

channels as the customer requires.'
