Saatchis poised to secure £60m Auris

Saatchi & Saatchi is expected to scoop the £60 million pan-European brief to handle the launch of the Toyota Auris following a two-way shoot-out against the German advertising agency Change.

The pitch for the hatchback was called in March. It is understood that the campaign is set to run in the early part of 2007, with the work to be rolled out across Toyota's 25 European markets.

At the same time, Toyota has handed Clemmow Hornby Inge the pan-European brief to launch the next Yaris model, without a pitch.

Toyota, like GM, has adopted a system of pitching out its advertising accounts on a project basis. Most of the subsequent work runs on a pan-European basis.

Saatchi & Saatchi used to handle the entire Toyota account, but since CHI won the pan-European brief to launch Toyota's Aygo in 2004, it has succeeded in making extensive inroads into Saatchi & Saatchi's Toyota business. It won Lexus earlier in the year, and also handles Corolla.

Toyota Europe was unavailable to comment on the appointments.
