Rugby has yet to convert masses despite Cup win

Despite joyous celebrations following England's successful capture of the Rugby World Cup in Australia, nearly half the UK population claim that they are not interested in rugby, in research conducted by OMD Snapshots for Marketing.

The survey asked 1075 people whether they were interested in rugby with 51% replying yes. Although the majority of people (64%) had watched at least some, if not all, of this year's contest, 36% said that they watched none at all - though that figure may have been lower had all the respondents been asked after the World Cup final. The survey included responses made both before and after.

There was good news for ITV, though: most people who watched the coverage rated it highly, with 59% saying it was very good, 39% saying it was average and only 2% claiming it was very poor.
