RTL expects full-year earnings <BR>to be down by up to 40%

LONDON - Channel 5 owner RTL Group says it expects earnings to be down between 35% and 40% for the 12 months to December 31.

The fall in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation comes as the company expects to take restructuring costs of £25m and a new investment charge of £17.5m for the year.

The company said the outlook was bleak and that it is finding it difficult to predict the business outlook with any degree of certainty.

RTL owns UK broadcaster Channel 5 with United Business Media. The Luxembourg-based broadcaster owns 65% of the channel, with United owning the rest.
