RSPCA names new head

LONDON - The RSPCA has appointed Mark Watts as its new chief executive after 28 years at the animal welfare charity.

RSPCA names new head

Watts has been promoted from the role of director of corporate services where he oversaw the charity's financial and technology planning. Watts replaces Jackie Ballard who had been director general since 2002 and left the charity last autumn.

Watts' first task as chief executive will be to oversee the installation of a multi-million pound modernisation programme which will see all RSPCA wardens issued with new handheld mobile technology and a new online pet rehoming service for the public.

The animal welfare charity has announced that it will relaunch its website within the 18 months.
