Last year's awards winners included Waitrose, McDonald's and Marks & Spencer (Marketing, 19 October). Marks & Spencer publicised its win with an ad campaign intended to showcase its ethical credentials.
Brands' ethical stance is becoming more important to consumers: 55% of people would be prepared to pay more for products with a good animal welfare record, according to MORI research published in January.
This year, the awards categories include restaurants, fast-food chains, supermarkets, clothes shops and cosmetics and toiletries brands. The awards will be judged by an independent panel.
