RSPCA develops logo for awards

The RSPCA has created a fresh logo for its second annual Good Business Awards, which winners will be able to use on packaging and advertising to demonstrate their commitment to minimising the suffering of animals.

Last year's awards winners included Waitrose, McDonald's and Marks & Spencer (Marketing, 19 October). Marks & Spencer publicised its win with an ad campaign intended to showcase its ethical credentials.

Brands' ethical stance is becoming more important to consumers: 55% of people would be prepared to pay more for products with a good animal welfare record, according to MORI research published in January.

This year, the awards categories include restaurants, fast-food chains, supermarkets, clothes shops and cosmetics and toiletries brands. The awards will be judged by an independent panel.
