Royal Mail launches online direct service

LONDON - Royal Mail is aiming to boost the use of direct mail among businesses with the launch of its DM Online website, which will enable companies to source suppliers and develop mail campaigns.

Companies that register with the site will be able to use it to search the websites of list purchasers, direct mail design, production, mailing and fulfilment services. Offline services such as printing and mailing can also be found on the site.

Andrew Kershaw, head of media information for Royal Mail, said: "The service is designed to be as simple as possible, allowing users to experience each step in developing a piece of DM in their own time, utilising a demo that shows the power of DM Online prior to entering the transactional aspect of the site, all while following best practice models."

A planning system will enable customers to assess the size of the mailing they need and calculate its cost. Further options include purchasing additional data to match the profile of their existing customers or the type of people they want to target.

The site also provides the facility to build a list of prospective customers from scratch. Companies interested in the service should visit .
