A spokesman declined to comment on the ad, which was created in-house and ran in today's Guardian and Independent, promoting flights from £7 one-way.
A spokesman for Ryanair said he couldn’t confirm whether Prince William has ever used the airline for security and protection reasons. He did, however, say that members of the Spanish royal family have used the airline in the past.
He added that using Ryanair for the honeymoon is a "good way to save money".
Ryanair, which favours a provocative approach to advertising, has used famous faces such as the Pope, French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni, Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe and Winston Churchill in past campaigns.
The likelihood of the couple using Ryanair for their honeymoon has been rubbished by cultural commentator, Peter York.
York said: "I certainly don't think they will be using Ryanair for their honeymoon, particularly from a security aspect. But it is not impossible that Prince William has used Ryanair in the past."
Perhaps William could have used the airline to attend a European wedding while wearing a false moustache, York joked.
