For the first time, suppliers on the roster have been split into two categories - one for merchandising and incentive agencies and the second for manufacturers, trade suppliers and direct importers.
The four-month process, which was handled by COI Merchandising head Sarah Walsh, has resulted in a number of suppliers being knocked off the roster. They include B&H Liquid Crystal, Parker Pens and TKS Trade Sourcing.
However, many suppliers have been retained, including Adpads Promotional Products, Sanford, and Senator Pens in the manufacturers and direct importers category; and EMC Advertising Gifts in the merchandising and incentive category.
"The number of manufacturers and direct importers has been increased to offer government departments access to a broad range of cost-effective products," said Walsh. "By introducing the new category of merchandising agencies, COI can appoint full-service agencies to deliver merchandise programmes from start to finish."
The process marks the first time the COI has reviewed its merchandising roster since 2001.
COI Merchandising supplies promotional items to nearly 40 Whitehall departments and their executive agencies.
