'RI:SE', which was suspended over the Christmas period and revamped into a style similar to that of its axed predecessor 'The Big Breakfast', still failed to hit the 300,000 enjoyed by the show it replaced last April.
At the end of last year the programme, produced by Sky and Princess Productions, parted company with all but one of the show's original presenting line-up.
Edith Bowman remains with new co-host Iain Lee, formerly of 'The 11 O'Clock Show', who present the show between 7am and 8.30am. Comedy duo Mel and Sue take over at 8.30am for the last half-hour of the show.
A spokeswoman for the show said they were satisfied with the ratings of the first show, which showed it had not lost any viewers while it had been off air for a month over Christmas.
"We're quite happy with the figures because that's what we had before we went off air. It was purposely a soft relaunch, very low profile because we want the show to find its feet. We're looking for moderate growth over a long period," she said.
The new show is very different from its original guise, with a more informal feel. In style, it has been likened to that of 'The Big Breakfast', which featured a similar two-presenter format -- funny man and straight girl sidekick. The long desk the presenters used to sit behind has also gone, as has the news ticker that ran across the bottom of the screen.
