RFL nets Camelot marketer for top commercial post

The Rugby Football League (RFL) has poached Camelot executive Chris Green to become its top marketer with a brief to bolster the sport's commercial activities.

Green will join the RFL next month as marketing director. He will replace Glenn Baker, who left in the autumn after only a few months in the job.

It is not known whether he had another job to go to.

Heading the RFL's Leeds-based commercial and marketing department, Green will be responsible for generating new revenue for rugby league.

The sport's current sponsors include Tetley, which backs the Super League, and TXU Energi, sponsor of the Challenge Cup.

Green is currently director of player and retailer services at Camelot Group, where he has spent the past eight years. Prior to that, he held senior marketing roles at City law firm Turner Kenneth Brown and The Financial Training Company.

Green will report to RFL executive chairman Richard Lewis, who joined the governing body earlier this year.
