Revenues rise at Telegraph

Ad revenues on The Daily and Sunday Telegraph papers grew 7% in 1999, according to year-end figures from parent company Hollinger.

The two papers were boasted by healthy recruitment and financial services markets. The UK newspaper group, which also includes The Spectator, posted a £8 million increase in revenues to £340 million.

Overall, Hollinger reported a 24% rise in net earnings to $245.4 million in the year to December 1999. The launch of a daily paper, the National Post, in Canada later this year hit earnings. These were down $50 million in 1999.
