Reuters promotes revamped web site to City commuters

Reuters is targeting commuters in the City of London in a new campaign to promote its overhauled online services.

As part of the push, print ads appear at London commuter 'hubs', such as Liverpool Street - where Reuters will take all the spots on one particular escalator - St Paul's and Cannon Street stations.

Reuters-branded Tube maps will be handed out at a number of stations, along with branded coffee-cup sleeves in cafes across the City.

Reuters.co.uk relaunched late last year with a new strategy to expand its appeal and offer more site-exclusive content. The City ad push is one of a number of campaigns planned this year.

Last month, the news agency made Astrid Zweynert, former chief reporter on its UK online desk, its UK online editor.

Alisa Bowen, Reuters.co.uk head, said: "Last year (Reuters.co.uk) doubled its audience and we are consistently seeing strong growth in demand from advertisers to appear on the site. This campaign is just the start of an exciting, innovative marketing programme, planned to help grow our audience even further this year."

The new print campaign was designed by agency Howdy.
