Jonathan Bill, Real Media's commercial director, is leaving the digital sales house at the end of the month to join Reuters Media.
Bill, who was promoted from sales director in the summer, has accepted the role of business development director at Reuters.
Its media division supplies news to the press, television and more than 900 websites.
It will also start delivering news in an audio format in the next few months, after striking a deal with the radio production company Somethin' Else.
Bill started his career at Premier Magazines and joined Real Media three years ago from Miller Freeman, where he was a sales manager.
Last summer, he was promoted from UK sales director to commercial director as part of a top-level restructure. (Media Business, 31 July).
In this role, he oversaw advertising sales for Real Media's network of websites, working with his successor Richard Smith, and chased new business leads.
'I have enjoyed being part of the management team that has taken the business from a start-up operation to a company with 60 staff,' said Bill.
'But the opportunity presented by Reuters was too compelling to ignore and I can't wait to get started.'
Meanwhile, Real Media is understood to have made eight of its marketing staff redundant.
