Retail News: Littlewoods nets Monstermob tie

Littlewoods is boosting its mobile phone offer to cash in on the growing ringtone and mobile content market.

The retailer has signed a distribution deal with entertainment provider Monstermob to market its content packages through its Littlewoods Even More customer magazine.

The Mob download service will be aimed at younger consumers, while Jet Set, a competition-focused offer, will target an older audience.

The deal will be reviewed next year, with a potential roll-out across the LX Direct catalogue and Sport-e.com brand. Littlewoods will also consider adding a mobile offer to its Index stores.

Separately, The Link has partnered with mobile music recognition company Sha-zam Entertainment to offer a half-price subscription for £3, enabling people to find out the name of up to 12 songs by dialing a shortcode.
