Under the new regime, the premiums wing and The Marketing Store's offices in Leeds, Birmingham and Paris - all previously autonomous - will report to a European chief executive. A spokesman for the agency said it is looking to fill the new role by spring 2005.
Charles Croft, who has extended his role as commercial director to that of chief operating officer, said that the restructure comes as the SP agency seeks to focus on more integrated projects. He added that the shop's new direction would see it invest "several hundreds of thousands" in its creative and planning departments, and would bring in "four or five others" to beef up the existing teams in 2005.
Elsewhere, Shelford Chandler steps up from creative director for the London office to become European creative director. Jim Wilkinson fills his former role, having been brought in from Logistix. Jamie Edgar, previously director of product and licensing becomes European sales and marketing director.
To further support the restructure, The Marketing Store has created a standalone human resources department for the first time. Shirley La Costa, European people and practices director, and Liz Dowling, recruitment and development manager, Europe, have been brought in to oversee all recruitment and staffing issues.
The restructure follows Amanda Morrissey's appointment as managing director for the London office in October and Ross Macdonald being brought in as European planning director last summer.
