Restructure could freeze Coral promotions activity

LONDON - Betting chain Coral is restructuring its marketing department in a move which could put its promotional activity in doubt.

Restructure could freeze Coral promotions activity

The company would not comment on how the restructure will happen or whether there will be any redundancies. It is believed that the restructure has not affected Gala casinos, which is also part of the Gala Coral Group.

According to insiders close to the brand, a number of Coral's campaigns are currently on hold pending the restructure.

A Coral spokeswoman said that the restructure would be complete by the New Year. It is understood the move will not affect the position of marketing director Martyn Miller.

Coral has launched a number of promotional campaigns recently. It is believed the firm is looking at customer acquisition for ways to drive consumers to its online arm.

Last year, Coral teamed up with Carlsberg to offer a free bet to anyone who bought a special promotional pack of Carlsberg, Carlsberg Export, Tetley or Tetley Smoothflow.

The campaign was targeted around England Euro 2008 qualifiers and the Rugby World Cup.

In February last year, Coral appointed 141 to revamp its brand guidelines. Late in 2006, the firm hired advertising agency The Red Brick Road to handle its advertising account. The appointment was followed by the 2005 merger of Gala Bingo and Coral Eurobet.
