The Sunday Times reported yesterday (27 June) that Reed Elsevier chief executive Erik Engstrom told an interested party he had no plans to sell its exhibitions division.

It has been widely reported in other media that the publisher and information provider is under pressure from buyout firms to sell Reed Exhibitions, said to be worth around £1.5bn, to help clear some of its £3.9bn debt.

Reed Exhibitions is one of the world’s leading organisers of exhibitions, with a growing portfolio of more than 440 events in 36 countries.

Reed Elsevier declined to comment on the reported remarks.
