Reckitt in search for global director

Reckitt Benckiser, the household products giant, is seeking a global category director for product innovation, licensing and sponsorship.

The hunt comes as the company is expected to move into the personal care market by acquiring the Wilkinson Sword razor business from Pfizer.

The job, based in the UK, sits alongside five other global product category directors and reports to senior vice-president for all categories Elio Leoni-Sceti, who in turn reports to chief executive Bart Becht.

The vacancy comes as a result of Lorenzo Delpani's departure to take on responsibility for Reckitt's south west Europe operation, which covers Spain, Portugal and Israel.

As part of his new initiatives brief, Delpani also had overall responsibility for the company's consumer e-commerce activity. This task is understood to have been handed to director of media Ian Hutchinson.

Reckitt Benckiser split its £300m advertising account between Euro RSCG Worldwide and J Walter Thompson in April after incumbent McCann-Erickson resigned the account over conflicts stemming from its acquisition of the True North Network. Reckitt's UK adspend is around £50m.

Euro RSCG was awarded the fabric care, dishwashing and homecare categories, responsible for the Vanish, Resolve and Finish brands while JWT picked up brands including Dettol, Harpic and Gaviscon.
