Burton has been vice president and general manager of The O2 for the past four and a half years. Previous to that she was managing director of Alexandra Palace.
She will be responsible for managing all aspects of RUT’s current and future business activities reporting into Mark Wordsworth, RUT’s executive chairman, and to the board.
Tom Miserendino, CEO and president of AEG Europe, said: "After four and a half years as vice president/general manager of The O2, Rebecca Kane Burton has made the decision to leave the organisation.
"On behalf of AEG Europe, I wish to take this opportunity to thank Rebecca, who has been a valued member of our management team. Rebecca can be rightfully proud of the legacy she leaves and the excellent team in place at the venue. We wish her well for the exciting things she has planned next."
RUT has some significant business developments planned for the next few years, including the growth of its concert business and the launch of a new ticketing company in 2017.
Next month it will complete the acquisition of the office building adjacent to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which will become the headquarters of The Really Useful Group.

I have a real passion for theatre and historic buildings and I am fortunate that this role combines the best of both. Working across some of London’s most iconic and innovative theatres in the heart of the West End is a challenge that I am delighted to accept.
"It has been a wonderful four and a half years at The O2 and I am hugely proud of what the team have achieved during my time as VP and general manager. The world’s number one music venue will always hold a fond place in my heart," she added.
