Reader's Digest loses CEO Titmuss after 6 months

The chief executive of the company behind Reader's Digest, David Titmuss, has left after six months "to pursue other interests".

In a statement Vivat Direct, which declined to comment on why Titmuss left, said it would appoint a successor "in due course".

A spokeswoman ruled out a return for former chief executive Chris Spratling, who participated in the management buyout that saved Reader's Digest from administration.

For the moment the company is being led by its senior management team, which consists of chairman Sean Cooper, chief operating office Carrie Hutchison and legal director Doug Nethery.

, and Titmuss was appointed chief executive in November.

Titmuss headed the subsequent launch of a separate direct marketing company called Direct Marketing Partners in January.

His successor as Vivat Direct chief executive will also oversee this company.

The circulation of Reader's Digest is 433,353, according to ABC figures for July to December 2010. It rose 7.4% from the previous six-month period but fell 6.8% from the previous year.

The magazine has just been relaunched.
