RBS shifts £22m Direct Line financial work to CHI

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has handed Clemmow Hornby Inge (CHI) its Direct Line Financial Services division's £22m ad business, without a pitch.

The agency will now handle advertising for Lombard Direct, Churchill loans, Direct Line mortgages and Direct Line loans. The bulk of the business moves from Bespoke Communications, which handled the £20m Direct Line and Lombard Direct work. The £2m Churchill loans business moves from EBP, which retains the main Churchill Insurance account.

CHI already handles the RBS-owned One Account's £10m advertising business, the Mint credit card ad account and the main £35m Direct Line insurance business.

Jayne-Anne Gadhia, managing director of the One Account, who is responsible for Direct Line's financial division, is understood to have briefed CHI to move the loan brands upmarket.

A spokeswoman for Direct Line Financial Services confirmed CHI's appointment.
