RBS Group hires Lippincott to rebuild consumer confidence

LONDON - Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed US brand strategy consultancy Lippincott to help repair consumer confidence in its portfolio of brands, the reputation of which has been damaged during the banking crisis.

RBS Group hires Lippincott to rebuild consumer confidence

The pitch was led by Helen Page, managing director for marketing and innovation, UK retail, at RBS.

The bank is looking to revive the public's trust in its RBS and NatWest retail banking brands following the 70% nationalisation of RBS Group in January.  The process follows the launch of a multimillion-pound
campaign in Scotland, which claims that consumers and businesses there are backing the RBS brand. The ads feature real customers and use the strapline 'Here for you'.

In England and Wales, NatWest has adopted a 'Helpful banking' positioning. Ads have shown staff endeavouring to help customers manage their finances in the difficult economic environment.

Separately, RBS is seeking an agency to rebrand its Global Banking & Markets division. Agencies pitching include The Brand Union, Uffindell West and Campbell Lace Beta.
