RBoS sponsors new Setanta Golf TV channel

Sports broadcaster Setanta is launching a golf channel on digital TV and is providing its quota of next season's live Premier League football to BT's new broadband TV service, BT Vision.

Setanta Golf, launching on 8 January, will be sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland.
The six-figure deal, signed by  Setanta Golf, Flextech, UKTV and IDS, will give RBS branded, 10-second idents in every advert break within live coverage of the PGA Tour, The Presidents Cup and the Champions Tour, as well as sponsorship of a series of programmes featuring golfing legend Jack Nicklaus.
The deal, which was negotiated by Guy Martin of IDS and Chris Holdom of MediaCom, also includes sponsorship of the Setanta Golf microsite, linked from , which will launch at the same time as the channel.
The agreement with BT includes 46 live FA Premier League games, 60 live Scottish Premier League games and live Nationwide Conference games, as well as other European football leagues.
There will also be other sports coverage, including PGA Golf.
The live coverage will sit alongside BT's own on-demand sports content, including the rights to 242 "near live" FA Premiership matches, from next summer.
Setanta won broadcast rights to a third of all Premier League games earlier this year, as well as the rights to the PGA Tour, which was previously held by Sky Sports.
The broadcaster's partnership with BT is expected to be the first of several collaborations.
BT has also signed content deals with record label EMI and Hollywood studio Warner Brothers, which will give customers access to back catalogue movies and TV shows.
BT expects to sign up two to three million customers to the service, which was launched yesterday (Monday).
It will also offer content from sources including MTV, Paramount, Nickelodeon, Endemol, DreamWorks and Emap.
Delivered through a set-top box called the V-box, BT Vision will offer users the opportunity to store a total of up to 80 hours of content, pause or rewind live TV and also access a library of programmes and films.
