Rapper Eve to star in new Reebok Classic campaign

NEW YORK - Reebok has signed rapper, actress and clothes designer Eve as the face of its new advertising campaign for Reebok Classic Cielo.

Eve, who has appeared in the films 'Barbershop' and 'XXX', as well as winning a Granny Award for her hip-hop music, will star in a 30-second television advertisement breaking in the US next week. She will also star in two print spots due to appear in May.

The TV campaign will also feature another rapper, Fabolous, who has appeared in other Reebok television spots. In the ad, Eve and Fabolous are performing an original song about Reebok Classic. A passerby is surprised when the famous pair emerge from television monitors at a Footlocker store.

In the print ads, Eve appears posing in two different kinds of shoes: the Classic Oryx and the Classic Gold Medallist.

Reebok retains Omnicom-owned Arnell Group for its Classic brand.

Micky Pant, chief marketing officer at Reebok, said: "Eve is well known for her classic hip-hop style throughout the music industry and on the streets. We believe her fashion-forward look and timeless appeal represent Reebok very well."

The Reebok Classic print campaign has been running for four years. Older executions included "Blind Date Classic", with the mismatched couple of Dr Ruth, the elderly sex therapist, and Ludacris, the young rapper; and "mmm... Classic", starring Homer Simpson.

The Columbian pop star Shakira also promotes Reebok Classic.
