Rajar figures set to show rise for Capital's Vaughan

LONDON - London radio station 95.8 Capital FM is expected to show a major increase in its breakfast audience in the Rajar figures due out on Thursday, following a heavy TV adspend to promote the debut of presenter Johnny Vaughan.

However, rivals say Vaughan is less popular than his predecessor, Chris Tarrant, and they expect this to be reflected in the next quarterly Rajar figures as the ad campaign's effect evaporates.

Separately, British Airways has signed a six-figure 12-month deal to sponsor drivetime shows across the Capital group. BA is moving much of its radio spend from morning weather bulletins to improve receptiveness to its ads.
